First of all, the T-Rex has a similar footprint to the SEB MAX my rest measures 12.5” wide X 11.25” front to back. However, at just over 21 LBS my rest weighs less than a SEB NEO.
My rest top features the Rodzilla 5-Axis. This innovative new top rotates independently of the base plate so no matter how the rest is set on the line you only need to move your rear bag to pan across the row of targets with no binding of the rifle. Also, the sides of the rifle run against vertical Delrin rollers. My bottom sand rails toggle front to back and cannot settle unevenly. You will enjoy consistent friction or breakaway under any condition.
The Joy stick adjusts from 15-1/2” to 21” long, allowing for the correct length whether shooting from a bench or prone. Just loosen a thumb screw and slide the joystick to your desired length and lock it down.
The bridge travels up and down on double sealed ball bushing on 1” hardened shafts. My design utilizes a rack and pinion with an 18” long drive shaft for adjusting the height of the bridge. This system allows you to stay in shooting position and looking through the scope while adjusting the vertical placement of your crosshairs. Precisely dial your vertical to the center of your target with the joy stick at the exact height you prefer. ¼ MOA movement is very easy to accomplish with this design. Also, there is no need to lock the bridge as there is an adjustable clutch to hold the vertical position. The long drive shaft utilizes a scalloped hand wheel on the shooters side and a quick coupling adapter on the rest side. Once adjusted you merely pull back on the drive shaft and remove it or just set it on your shooting mat out of the way. The geared rack and pinion can be placed on the right for right-handed shooters or on the left.
The horizontal and Vertical micro adjustment (joystick) has two ratios available and change over takes just a minute or two.
My MOA numbers are based on both 36” and 26” spacing between the front rest and rear bag. I tested the SEB NEO side by side and give the NEO numbers as a comparison only.
In the low ratio mode, the T-Rex moves 25-36.5 MOA horizontal and 24-33MOA vertical. The SEB NEO moves 29-39.5 MOA horizontal and 23-32 vertical.
In high ratio mode, there is 50-69.5 MOA of horizontal and 27-38 MOA of vertical.
When used in the High Ratio mode the 69.5 MOA give the shooter a 58’ left to right movement of the crosshair and field of view of 60-75’ at 55X and 79-82’ at 42X (using a Nightforce Competition scope)
This huge field of view is a great help when shooting in a condition that is switching and you want to take a look at targets on either side. The horizontal/vertical assembly, or X-Y block moves on 6 double sealed ball bushings that travel on hardened shafts for effortless movement. There are a couple thumb screws to add friction if you desire. There is no lubrication or maintenance required on my mechanism.
The optional sand feet are of the bell shaped or Phoenix design with treaded studs locked into the foot so they cannot come unscrewed like other designs can. The bottom of the foot features a replaceable hard point that can be tapped into concrete if allowed. Large scalloped locking hand knobs tighten against spring washers to keep the threaded studs in tension for stability. The T-Rex comes with a set of regular bench studs with scalloped hand locking knobs, Bellville spring washers and hard points installed.
The weight of your rifle is counter balanced by two externally adjustable thumb screws. Adjustments are made with the rifle setting in the top unlike other rests that have to be disassembled to reach the counter balance adjustments.
The base plate is steel, and powder coated with the bridge made from solid 6061T651 aluminum and hard anodized for a lifetime of service.
A fitted hard case is optional. The case is made from tough light-weight polypropylene copolymer. It has a rugged O-ring seal that makes it air and water tight up to 3ft deep. My case utilizes an automatic pressure release valve so that it adjusts to its environment. It is also ATA/TSA ready for airline travel. My T-Rex case is lockable with comfort molded handles and spring-loaded latches. The case has custom cut convoluted open cell foam glued into the lid plus a 1” thick base pad glued into the bottom to lock the base from shifting around. There are two 4” thick, lift out pieces custom cut to secure the rest, feet and tools.
